International Five-Star Eventer, Trainer and Coach
Hawley Awad grew up on a hobby farm in Langley, British Columbia, riding through the 4-H Horse Club and the local Pony Club — chasing the same dream so many young riders carry: the Olympics, someday.
That dream took shape in 1994, when a gangly four-year-old off-the-track Thoroughbred named Livingstone came into her life. The partnership clicked immediately, and by 21 — on the strength of a top finish at the North American Young Riders' Championships — Hawley earned a spot on the Canadian Eventing Team. "Hank" carried her to a team silver at the 2003 Pan American Championships and, the following year, to her first Olympic start, representing Canada in Athens.
A second horse of a lifetime followed in the mare Gin & Juice — five-star completions at Badminton and Burghley, a USEA Mare of the Year title, a World Equestrian Games team silver, and a return Olympic trip to London in 2012. Years later, the mare Jollybo carried Hawley to another World Championship selection, representing Canada individually in Tryon.
Now based in Temecula, California, Hawley trains and competes upper-level horses while coaching riders of every level — passing on the horsemanship and patience that built a career spanning four World Championships, two Olympic Games, two Pan American Games, and an FEI World Cup Final.
